Job Description

Vacancies have arisen for Band 5 Registered Nurse or Operating Department Practitioners to join our theatre team based between Berwick/Alnwick and Morpeth sites to support our surgical and Endoscopy services for patients in our community. There will be the opportunity to work within a diverse area within the units that offer day case Endoscopy, Orthopaedics, General Surgery, Dental, Podiatry and Plastic surgery.



Previous experience would be an advantage, however a comprehensive training package is in place for newly qualified staff, or those new to the theatre environment.



The successful candidate should be motivated and enthusiastic and committed to delivering safe, high quality care.



Full time posts ( Part time hours may also be considered)

Delivering excellent standards of care and providing patient support throughout the peri-operative phase, advocating on behalf of the dependent patient. Undertaking the scrubbed and circulating role, ensuring safe environment and practice is maintained. Working with, and supporting other members of the multi-disciplinary team. Preparation and monitoring of the environment of care, and equipment. Supervising junior colleagues, unregistered staff and students.



We manage three major locality hospitals at North Tyneside, Wansbeck and Hexham, plus a number of smaller community hospitals and clinics from Tynemouth to Berwick on Tweed, in addition to our state-of-the-art Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital, the first of its kind in England. We also care for people in their homes and provide services from facilities in local communities such as health centres. We give people greater choice and control over their care to help them to live independently at home and avoid hospital admission where appropriate. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care under the direction of the senior nurse/SODP

To assist in the provision of nursing care and maintain high clinical standards

To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct

Develop over time and contribute to the management of a clinical area and take charge in the absence of Senior Nurse/ODP

To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
