We are seeking an exceptional
Therapeutic Coordinator
to join our innovative team. This is a unique opportunity to directly impact the lives of young people, working across our supported living homes, and collaborating closely with our dedicated staff to provide truly person-centred, goal-oriented, and recovery-focused care. If you are committed to evidence-based practice, continuous learning, and believe in the power of therapeutic relationships, we want to hear from you.
About RFM Supported Living Ltd.:
Founded by young people passionate about creating impactful change, RFM Supported Living prides itself on a fresh, research-driven approach to supported living. We move beyond traditional models to provide holistic, individualised support that genuinely boosts young people's confidence, skills, and pathways to independence. We embrace the Recovery Model, Person-Centred Care, and Goal-Oriented Practice, ensuring every young person's journey is tailored to their unique needs and aspirations.
The Role: Therapeutic Coordinator
As our Therapeutic Coordinator, you will be a vital bridge between therapeutic insights and daily care practice. You will work dynamically across our supported living houses, providing specialist therapeutic assessments and guidance to our care teams. Your expertise will be crucial in supporting young people who have experienced complex challenges, including mental health difficulties, child sexual/criminal exploitation, domestic violence, or family breakdown.
Key Responsibilities:
Therapeutic Assessment & Pathway Development:
Conduct comprehensive, holistic, and trauma-informed therapeutic assessments for young people upon admission and on an ongoing basis.
Contribute to the development and ongoing review of individualised "This is Me" / Support Plans, ensuring they are therapeutically informed, person-centred, and goal-oriented.
Work closely with young people, their social workers, and care managers to identify key developmental pathways (e.g., emotional regulation, social skills, independence, educational/vocational routes).
Direct Therapeutic Engagement:
Provide dedicated
weekly 1:1 therapeutic time
with individual young people, building strong, trusting therapeutic relationships. This will focus on fostering emotional literacy, resilience, coping strategies, and addressing underlying needs.
Utilise a range of therapeutic approaches (e.g., CBT, DBT-informed skills, art therapy, play therapy techniques, attachment-based approaches) adapted to the young person's age, developmental stage, and preferences.
Consultation & Guidance for Care Teams:
Act as a therapeutic consultant for Care Managers and support staff, providing insights into challenging behaviours as communication of unmet needs.
Collaborate to develop and implement effective, positive behaviour support strategies based on the young person's therapeutic plan and current research.
Contribute to daily care planning, ensuring a consistent therapeutic approach across the home environment.
Goal-Oriented Practice & Skill Building:
Work with young people and the Activities Coordinator to identify, set, and monitor progress towards meaningful short and long-term goals related to their emotional well-being, life skills, and future aspirations.
Develop and facilitate workshops or group sessions for young people on themes such as confidence building, emotional intelligence, healthy relationships, and resilience.
Research & Strategy Implementation:
Stay abreast of current research in child and adolescent mental health, trauma-informed care, therapeutic interventions for exploitation, and positive youth development.
Work proactively with the management team to integrate new, evidence-based strategies and innovations into RFM's care model.
Opportunity to collaborate on in-house research projects
to enhance our practice and contribute to the wider field of youth care.
Template Development & Training:
Create user-friendly therapeutic templates and resources for Care Managers and support staff to utilise in their daily work, ensuring consistent, high-quality practice even when you are not on-site.
Contribute to staff training and development, sharing therapeutic knowledge and practical skills.
Multi-Agency Liaison:
Liaise with external professionals such as CAMHS, specialist exploitation services, youth offending services, and educational providers to ensure integrated support.
Participate in multi-agency meetings (e.g., PEPs, LAC reviews) to advocate for the young person's therapeutic needs.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
Essential:
Actively working towards or hold a recognised qualification in Counselling, Psychotherapy, or a related therapeutic discipline (e.g., Art Therapy, Play Therapy, Dramatherapy) from a reputable training provider.
Crucial:
Registration or working towards registration with a relevant professional body (e.g., BACP, UKCP, HCPC).
Experience:
Demonstrable experience working therapeutically with children and young people, particularly adolescents (16-18), in a direct support or clinical capacity.
Understanding of the specific vulnerabilities faced by young people in supported living, including trauma, mental health difficulties, and exploitation (CSE/CCE).
Familiarity with the Recovery Model, Person-Centred Care, and Goal-Oriented Practice.
Skills:
Exceptional ability to build rapport and establish trusting therapeutic relationships with young people from diverse backgrounds.
Highly developed assessment, analytical, and formulation skills.
Excellent communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.
Ability to translate complex therapeutic concepts into practical strategies for care teams.
Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage a caseload and associated paperwork effectively.
Proficiency in creating clear, accessible templates and resources.
Proactive, self-motivated, and passionate about continuous professional development.
Mindset:
A modern, forward-thinking approach to youth care, open to innovation and research.
Deep empathy, patience, and resilience.
Commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
