Evolve Residential are expanding and are seeking skilled, compassionate and resilient practitioners to join our children's home in Darlington. The home specialises in supporting younger children with learning disabilities and complex needs who require consistency, emotional attunement and proactive care.
We are looking for individuals with a genuine commitment to improving outcomes for children who experience, but not limited to developmental delay, communication needs and sensory differences. Experience in these areas is strongly preferred.
Our model is firmly therapeutic and child-centred. Staff use a relationship-based approach informed by PACE (Playfulness, Acceptance, Curiosity and Empathy) to help children feel safe, understood and valued. This parenting style supports co-regulation, builds trust and enhances a child's capacity for emotional expression and resilience. Alongside this, we follow Team Teach approaches to positive behaviour support and de-escalation, ensuring practice remains trauma-informed, respectful and grounded in safeguarding.
What the Role Involves
This is a hands-on role where staff play a "parenting-style" part in the daily lives of the children, including:
Supporting morning and bedtime routines, emotional wellbeing and personal care
Using PACE to strengthen relationships and promote emotional regulation
Working collaboratively with colleagues to plan purposeful activities and community participation
Encouraging independence through life skills, communication development and confidence-building
Preparing meals and maintaining a warm, nurturing home environment
Transporting children to school, therapy, appointments and recreational opportunities
Implementing Team Teach positive behaviour support and de-escalation strategies
Delivering child-centred care that respects dignity, identity and sensory needs
We operate small, friendly teams with a clear emphasis on reflective practice, professional development and career progression.
