Role Overview:
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic, and compassionate Service Lead to support our therapeutic services to fulfil their mission. This role will involve overseeing the day-to-day operations of therapeutic services, ensuring they are delivered effectively and with high standards of care. You will work closely with the Business Development Manager and play a key role in the development and continuous improvement of services on behalf of Nottinghamshire Mind, ensuring you are responsive to the needs of clients and aligned with our values. Our therapeutic services operate in the evenings with plans to extend to weekends therefore an element of evening and weekend working will be required.
About the Services:
Nottinghamshire Mind Therapeutic Services covers roles in which counsellors or therapists are involved in providing support for an individual's mental health, emotional difficulties, and wellbeing in the Nottinghamshire County. Counsellors and therapists appointed by the organisation are trained professionals as volunteers, or actively enrolled student trainees in their latter stages of counselling or psychotherapy training.
The organisation is currently offering affordable, long-term counselling service and art therapy to clients bringing a wide range of issues and difficulties, having to come from a variety of backgrounds and abilities, including the most vulnerable adults. We offer a reduced rate for clients on low income, as we receive a wide range of vulnerable clients from the most deprived aspects of life.
Nottinghamshire Mind provides support to adults across Nottinghamshire 7 days a week, 365 days a year through different services, our helpline, and crisis sanctuaries. We aim to provide a safe space for people to talk and feel supported, be listened to without judgement, access relevant support with problem solving and facilitate access to external services when necessary. As a member of our team, you will work closely with your line manager, therapy professionals, other services delivery teams and clients by using a person-centred approach as to ensure that everyone is supported with dignity and respect. You will be responsible for ensuring the delivery and development of quality therapeutic services and instilling Nottinghamshire Mind values throughout the provision. You will provide management support to therapy professionals and ensuring best practice within the services are safe, ethical, effective and person centred.
You will coordinate student and qualified volunteer counsellors to provide a valuable offer of timely professional support. You will support with room bookings, therapy assessments, appointment coordination, processes, budgets, supervisions, data compilation and reporting.
Key Responsibilities
Leadership and Management:
Lead the team of therapy professionals, ensuring they deliver effective and efficient service and meet the needs of our clients.
Staff Management and Development:
Provide day-to-day support, guidance, and supervision to staff, fostering a positive and supportive team culture.
Ensure that staff are trained, developed, and equipped with the skills necessary to deliver high-quality services.
Service Development:
Support Business Development Manager to enhance the service offer, including the design, implementation, and evaluation of new initiatives to improve therapy services.
Monitor service delivery, identify areas for improvement, and make necessary adjustments to ensure services are responsive to clients.
Quality Assurance:
Ensure therapeutic services meet or exceed relevant therapeutic standards, including ethical, regulatory and organisational requirements.
Oversee the auditing and evaluation of services to ensure continuous improvement.
Budget and Resource Management:
Manage budgets and resources for therapeutic services effectively, ensuring value for money and alignment with the overall goals of Nottinghamshire Mind.
Stakeholder Engagement:
Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including clients, healthcare providers, local authorities, and other partner organisations.
Therapeutic Services Coordination:
Oversee the coordination and delivery of therapeutic services, ensuring appropriate interventions and support are provided in a timely manner.
Risk Management & Safety:
Contribute to the development and implementation of policies, procedures, and protocols for therapeutic services, ensuring they are in line with best practices, ethical standards and requirements.
Reporting and Analysis:
Monitor and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) and service outcomes to senior management, providing insights and recommendations for service improvement.
General
To work in a cross-organisational way with other teams within Nottinghamshire Mind to support organisational development and learning.
To work in line with Nottinghamshire Mind policies, procedures, codes and guidance, including in relation to health & safety, confidentiality, safeguarding, data protection and equal opportunities.
To actively promote the aims and principles of Nottinghamshire Mind and take part in any Nottinghamshire Mind activities as directed.
To undertake other duties that may be necessary as directed by the Manager, that are compatible with nature and of the post.

Essential criteria
Experience & Qualifications
1. Relevant qualifications in counselling and/or psychotherapy, e.g. minimum of Level 4 Diploma in counselling or psychotherapy or higher.
2. Minimum of 2 years' experience of working within counselling and therapy services.
3. Experience in leading mental health services, including both clinical and non-clinical support.
4. Experience in budget management and resource allocation.
Knowledge
Knowledge of mental health issues, and the ability to work with a range of professionals and stakeholders.
Understanding of relevant legislation, safeguarding protocols, and mental health service standards.
Abilities
1. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and work collaboratively with internal and external partners.
2. Strong leadership skills, with experience in managing teams and providing supervisions.
3. Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities, with the capacity to work under pressure in challenging situations.
4. An ability to plan and coordinate rotas.
5. Ability to provide on-call support.
Desirable Skills
1. Experience in service and project development within the mental health sector.
2. Knowledge of current mental health policies, therapeutic frameworks, and commissioning arrangements.
3. A passion for improving mental health services and making a positive impact on clients' lives.
