Yaffle Care is seeking dedicated and compassionate individuals to join our team as Therapeutic Support Workers at our SEMH (Social, Emotional, and Mental Health) children's home in Hampshire. In this role, you will play a crucial part in helping children with complex emotional needs achieve stability, growth, and independence. Responsibilities
Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people with social, emotional, and mental health needs.
Create and maintain a nurturing, positive, and structured living environment.
Support young people in developing life skills, promoting their independence, and engaging them in educational, leisure, and social activities.
Help to implement individual care plans, therapeutic management strategies, and risk assessments.
Collaborate closely with other professionals (e.g., social workers, therapists) to ensure holistic support for each child.
Actively participate in team meetings, training sessions, and reflective practice.
Maintain accurate records and reports, ensuring compliance with policies and regulatory standards.
Respond to challenging behaviour in a calm and supportive manner, using de-escalation techniques and a therapeutic approach.
Uphold safeguarding practices, ensuring the safety and well-being of all children in our care.
Support the children in understanding and managing their emotions, trauma, and any complex needs they may have.
Skills
Essential:
A passion for working with children and young people, particularly those with SEMH needs.
Empathy, patience, and resilience in handling complex behaviours.
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with both children and colleagues.
Ability to work flexibly, including evenings, weekends, and bank holidays as required.
Strong teamwork skills with a proactive and reliable attitude.
Commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.
Desirable:
Experience in a similar role or working with children in a residential setting.
NVQ Level 3 in Children's Residential Care or a willingness to work towards this qualification.
Full UK driving licence (preferred but not essential).
Knowledge of safeguarding and child protection principles.
