Job Description

The Loddon School is both a school and a registered children's home for 30 children who have the most severe and complex learning difficulties and autism. Many children also have associated conditions such as epilepsy, self-injurious behaviour, aggression, and restrictive behaviours. The school is registered for pupils from the ages of 8-19. The children live at the school 52 weeks a year.

The Role



We are seeking a Therapies Assistant to work closely to support the occupational therapist, speech and language therapist and therapy team to promote and maintain an environment for the children consistent with the highest standards of education, care and wellbeing. The multidisciplinary team work to support the children/young people's independence, incorporating OT and SaLT principles to provide an integrated therapy approach.

The contract is initially 12 months, with the likelihood of this becoming permanent however this would be reviewed closer to the time.

The role is varied; therefore, alongside the support to highly specialist therapists, you will be a key team player, supporting the general therapies events such as Chumble Markets, world food events and facilitating breakfast for the children and making resources. You will be expected to work hands on with the children and support the organisation in a holistic way, therefore previous experience working with children or young adults with complex needs, including Autism and/or learning disabilities is essential. You will be a team player, an exceptional listener with solid IT skills and the ability to work independently. Although key qualifications are not a prerequisite for this role, an NVQ Level 3 Teaching Assistant or Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools qualification would be desirable.

Salary



The salary range for this position is between 24,453- 25,740 (dependant on experience and qualifications).
