Job Description

As the therapy assistant you will be expected to work alongside the qualified Conductive Education practitioner during group sessions working with children with a neurological movement disorder such as Cerebral palsy. During sessions you will be working with the children on the floor during physical programmes, during transferring; rolling, crawling and walking and supporting them during self care activities such as eating and drinking and personal care.

A desire to help disabled children and young people to achieve is essential. Experience working with children or adults with a SEN is also required along with a good work ethic and a desire to learn. Please note this is a physically demanding job and so you must be able to physically and medically able to carry out duties. The job is based in Bristol. Own transport is therefore required.

Job location:

-Ashton Vale, Bristol - Wednesday 10am - 1pm or 10am - 5pm

Educational Programme Duties:

Participating in and sharing responsibility for creating and maintaining an appropriate learning environment for the children and their families/carers. To work on a 1:1 basis or with a small group of children following activities provided by the Conductor. To plan and carry out arts/ craft activities with a small group of children. Assist in the organisation of sessions and events.
Administration Duties:

Assist in maintaining appropriate records of each child's development and progress. Filing pieces of work children have completed in group.
Training and Development:

Attending and contributing to in house or external training programmes as appropriate.
General Responsibilities:

To be responsible as a member of an interdisciplinary team. To carry out and promote the aims of Conductive Education Bristol. To attend interdisciplinary team meetings as required. Giving regular support for participants/carers/families. To help set up and tidy up the rooms. Including cleaning floors, washing up.
