BetterHealth4Life Project and General Counselling Services

(Fixed Term until 30th September 2026 with the possibility of a 2-year extension)

Hours of work: Full Time (37 hours) with an opportunity for hybrid working

Salary: 38,250

Base: 201-206 Alcester Street, Digbeth, with some sessional work in the community

This is an excellent development opportunity for a therapist looking for experience relevant to a future senior therapist/clinical leadership career and wishing to make a real difference now in the 3rd sector as part of our senior leadership team.

Better Pathways has embarked on an ambitious programme of growth and is recruiting a Therapy Services Lead to oversee delivery of our Better Health 4 Life project, a Birmingham City Council Prevention & Communities' grant funded programme. Providing individuals and groups with mental health wrap around support, and with a physical activities programme delivered in partnership with Sport4Life, the Therapy Services Lead will be instrumental in ensuring that mental health improvement outcomes are met and for supporting data collection and reporting processes required by commissioners. A range of measures are used to assess impact, for instance, WEMWBS, GAD7 and PHQ9, REQOL and you will have a good understanding of these.

Alongside this, we are looking for an energetic, ideas driven, therapist to join our senior leadership team as we seek to grow our general counselling offer, including potentially a commercial offer to employers to complement employee assistance programmes. We are also preparing to bid for a forthcoming Counselling project due to be tendered by the Birmingham and Solihull, Mental Health Provider Collaborative. Thus, there will be opportunities for career progression and promotion for the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will come with experience in CBT therapy, counselling and mental health settings. You will not need to be working at a senior level now, but you will have proven skills in encouraging people to give of their best, in influencing and achieving service improvement and in working as part of a team to achieve great things. You will be given a high level of autonomy to shape your role, within appropriate governance and support framework.

Of importance is that the successful candidate comes with qualifications in clinical supervision. This is because you will be responsible for growing our established relationships with local universities who place student counsellors with us. In turn, you will receive regular clinical supervision that we will buy in.

We know that we cannot provide the highest salary. But, you will benefit from 30 days' annual leave a year, plus bank holidays. You will be supported to achieve a good work/life balance through our hybrid/flexible working policies. And, most importantly, you will be supported to develop your career, working with a team and in an organisation recognised by our employees for its supportive culture, which includes free light lunches (of beans and cheese on toast predominantly!) with unlimited free tea and coffee.

If all of the above excites you, we would love to hear from you. To request a copy of the and Person Specification please contact Claire Bullard, Head of Contracts at Clareb@betterpathways.org.uk 0787 2945313 or Sue Roberts, Chief Executive at suer@betterpathways.org.uk 07753 327821.
