Thermal Insulation Apprentice (Nationwide Placements through TICA Members)

Are you looking for a hands-on role with excellent prospects for growth in a fast-expanding industry? TICA (Thermal Insulation Contractors Association) is partnering with our member companies--such as Solway Insulation--to recruit

Thermal Insulation Apprentices

across the UK.

As a TICA?sponsored apprentice, you'll work alongside experienced operatives to learn how to install and maintain high-quality industrial and commercial insulation systems. You'll gain a broad range of specialist skills, including:

Applying insulation and metal cladding materials to pipework, vessels, and ductwork Measuring, cutting, and fitting fibreglass, foam, nitrile rubber, Cellotex and more Sealing joints to prevent air leakage and maximize energy efficiency

Apprenticeship Programme

Duration:

18-month block-release training (two weeks every three months) at the TICA National Training Centre in Darlington, plus on-site experience over four years to full indenture

Training:

A blend of on-the-job mentoring with our member companies and off-the-job classroom sessions delivered by TICA instructors

Outcome:

NVQ qualification and TICA Skillcard, recognized industry-wide

Key Responsibilities

Accurately measure, cut, and install insulation and cladding on pipework, ductwork, vessels, valves, flanges and tanks Inspect existing installations, recommend repairs or upgrades, and safely remove old materials Collaborate with clients to assess requirements and propose energy-saving solutions Maintain detailed records of work performed and materials used Keep tools and equipment clean, functional and safely stored

What We're Looking For

Age 18+ (to meet site access requirements) Adaptable to various working environments (heights, confined spaces, outdoor conditions)--full training provided Strong work ethic with a passion for precision and quality Good communication skills and ability to represent TICA members professionally onsite Practical "hands-on" aptitude and ability to use your own initiative Comfortable with travel and working away from home as needed Reliable time management and team-working skills

Pay and Progression

We understand that pay is an important consideration. As with all apprenticeships, wages start at a lower rate but increase annually in line with the TICA National Agreement. By the fourth year of the apprenticeship, earnings typically range between
