We don't just need a translator; we need an interpreter with a passion for precise, culturally informed communication.

The Core Mission

To provide accurate and confidential simultaneous and consecutive interpretation between the Tigre language (Tigrayit) and English for various public and private sector clients.

Essential Requirements (Non-Negotiable)

Native Proficiency in Tigre: You must be a native (or near-native) speaker of the Tigre language. Fluent in English: Exceptional fluency and command of the English language, both spoken and understood. Cultural Fluency: A deep understanding of the cultural nuances, traditions, and dialects of the Tigre-speaking communities in Eritrea and Sudan.
Highly Desirable Qualifications

While your native ability is our main requirement, candidates who possess formal interpreting credentials will be strongly preferred:

A qualification or certification in Public Service Interpreting (e.g., DPI, Community Interpreting Certificate, or equivalent). Proven experience in a professional interpreting environment (e.g., medical, legal, or social services). Knowledge of the Ge'ez script and/or Arabic script (used to write Tigre).
Key Responsibilities

Provide professional interpreting services across various settings, including healthcare appointments, local government meetings, and social service interviews. Maintain strict adherence to the interpreter's code of ethics, including confidentiality, impartiality, and accuracy. Manage the flow of communication effectively in both consecutive and simultaneous modes. Travel within the Greater Manchester area (and potentially surrounding regions) to attend booked assignments.
