Job Description

SO Modular Limited, one of Wales's leading and largest Timber Frame/Modular Manufacturers, has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Timber Frame Designer to join our busy design team.. You will be working closely with the existing design and production team and reporting to our Design Manager.

Duties and Responsibilities:



Take ownership of designs

Gather information for pre-design all outstanding information to finish design

Risk assess potential health and safety issues

Ability to check drawings completely for accuracy.

Clarify any uncertainties with the Design Manager

Very confident in providing technical assistance to Contracts managers, Site installers, Production and transport staff.

Accurately design and estimate timber frame, roof trusses, joists and cassettes. With potentially progressing to timber modular panels and homes.

Product development and innovation

Ensure all designs are completed in time for agreed manufacture dates

Ensure all designs are completed to agreed prices

Adhere to Company Policies and Procedures at all times

Essential skills:



Minimum 5 years Timber frame design experience.

Experience of Pamir and AutoCAD

Good working knowledge of current UK Building Regulations and governing bodies

Ability to produce technical drawing information to a high standard

Ability to successfully manage projects with minimum supervision

Manage workload efficiently and to continual tight deadlines

Effective communicator both verbal and written

Desirable skills:



Relevant architectural based qualification (Degree, HNC or HND)

Experience with Consultec Framing or Pamir Panels

Modular, offsite or MMC knowledge

Ability to speak Welsh

Valid UK driving license

The role is full time and permanent, working 39 hours per week/156 hours per pay period

33 days annual leave (pro rata and inclusive of bank holidays and Christmas shutdown).

Flexible working hours with core hours from 09:00 - 14:00 each day.

4 days every 4 weeks working from home if preferred.
