Job Overview

We are seeking an experienced and motivated Shop Supervisor to oversee daily operations within our fabrication shop. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical background and demonstrate leadership skills to manage a team effectively. This role is crucial in ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining high standards of quality and safety.

Duties

Supervise and coordinate the activities of shop personnel engaged in fabrication, assembly, and welding tasks. Ensure that all operations comply with safety regulations and company policies. Oversee the use of hand tools, machinery, and equipment, including milling machines and programmable logic controllers (PLCs). Conduct regular inspections of work areas to maintain cleanliness and organisation. Assist in the training and development of staff on best practices for materials handling, tooling, and CAD software such as SolidWorks. Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure designs are accurately implemented during the fabrication process. Manage inventory levels of materials and tools, ensuring availability for ongoing projects. Implement basic math calculations for measurements and material requirements as needed.

Skills

Strong knowledge of fabrication processes and techniques. Proficiency in using SolidWorks and other CAD software for design purposes. Experience with programmable logic controllers (PLCs) is advantageous. Familiarity with milling operations and welding techniques. Excellent mechanical knowledge to troubleshoot equipment issues effectively. Competence in using hand tools safely and efficiently. Previous warehouse experience is beneficial for understanding logistics within the shop environment. Ability to handle materials safely while adhering to best practices in assembly processes.
