Overview





The central timetabling team is a key service provider for the University. Responsible for the successful delivery of academic calendars and their ongoing refinement, as well as the room booking service for the University, this is a key role in the IT Services department and is key for faculties and departments. You will be a key bridge between the timetabling team and the stakeholder community, ensuring the timetable meets the institutional needs. You will lead a high performing team, being flexible and adaptable to a rapidly changing environment. You will be part of the management team in the Education product space, ensuring the needs of your team and of the wider service are properly understood across the department.


Main duties and responsibilities




Lead the timetabling of academic teaching space to reinforce an excellent student experience Support the development and enhancement of timetabling policy, processes and systems in line with the strategic aims of the University and IT services department and to provide leadership for the timetabling team Collaborate and liaise closely with academic Schools and Departments and Professional Services to ensure timetabling is efficient and consistent across the University Develop and implement a consistent, principles-led, approach to the timetabling of academic teaching space Evaluate timetabling policy, existing processes and operational procedures and maintain up to date knowledge and expertise of best practices in timetabling Apply expert knowledge to difficult timetabling problems and to find innovative solutions To plan for, manage and mitigate the impact of changes to the teaching timetable in response to changing circumstances, changes to teaching delivery patterns and changes to strategic priorities Ensure the timely and effective publication of student and staff timetables Use metrics and stakeholder feedback to continuously develop and improve processes and guidance for timetabling Prepare and provide management information/reports and present findings at relevant groups/committees to inform the development and enhancement of timetabling across the University Be the business owner for the University timetabling system, develop and train staff, explore technical solutions to enhance timetabling capability and space utilisation and to make recommendations on system changes Carry out other duties, commensurate with the grade and remit of the post
