We are seeking a skilled Tool Maker to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will possess a strong mechanical knowledge and expertise in tooling, fabrication, and assembly processes. This role involves working with various materials, including plastics for injection moulding, and utilising advanced CAD software such as SolidWorks to design and create precision tools and components. The Purpose of a tool maker in Kea-Flex Mouldings is to produce new, modify and refurbish precision injection , compression and transfer moulding tools used to manufacture a wide variety of Elastomer products within our quality standards and in the most efficient manner. Tool makers are expected to meet customer demands and requirements through the timely completion of work and also to provide good internal customer service across the various functions on site. A post holder should show good attention to detail through the completion of all required paperwork to the required standard to maintain good traceability of tool room operations. A tool maker is expected to adhere to the companies stipulated, IT, HR & QSHE policies.
As a tool maker you would be expected to be multi-skilled undertaking a variety of the tasks listed below depending on training and experience (this list is not exhaustive).
Responsibilities
Tool Design & Manufacture
o
To be responsible for the safe use of machinery and equipment in the department.
o
To report any machine and equipment faults and/or defects to the site manager / maintenance as soon as observed to arrange repair or maintenance.
o
To be responsible for housekeeping and SHE practices in the department.
o
To visually monitor the quality of your own work.
o
Working from CAD/CAM files, engineering drawings, sketches and or verbal instructions to evaluate the most appropriate machining and assembly methods on assigned tools.
o
Design and assist in the design of tools based on engineering specifications and drawings.
o
Produce tooling and component drawings.
o
Preparation, modification and maintenance of existing tooling according to requirements.
o
Supporting the maintenance and troubleshooting of existing tools and equipment, identifying areas for continuous improvement.
o
Participate in the sampling of tools to ensure functionality and adherence to engineering and quality standards
o
To support production with resolving tooling-related issues during production.
o
Work closely with other departments implementing best practice "LEAN" techniques
Qualifications
Essential job specific key skills required:
o
Experience of working within a toolroom or precision engineering environment.
o
Machining Skills, Proficiency in operating and maintaining machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, and grinders. This also includes the ability to perform precision machining tasks
o
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
o
Willingness to learn and adapt to new techniques and technologies
Problem-solving mindset with a focus on continuous improvement.
Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Strong understanding of machining techniques and materials used in mould-making.
Desirable job specific skills & experience:
Experience working within the rubber manufacturing industry
