As a Tooling & Robotics Project Engineer, you will provide leadership to multi-functional project teams to execute major capital equipment projects to the facility while adhering to Caterpillarxe2x80x99s core values of Integrity, Excellence, Teamwork, Commitment and Sustainability. The Project Engineer is responsible for the execution of defined steps of the Facilities Capital and Automation strategic goals.Job duties and responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

  • The leadership, management and guidance in major capital equipment projects.
  • Identifying and implementing enhancements and modifications to complex manufacturing operations equipment and processes
  • Participating in the adoption of new technologies and processes (automation, robotics, computer aided manufacturing software, etc.) to achieve greater efficiency, cost reduction and quality improvement.
  • Collaborating with all functional areas, (operations, purchasing, manufacturing) to provide robotic solutions that meets the requirements for the facility
What skills/experience you will have:
  • Engineering/Manufacturing/Management Degree or equivalent experience in Project Management and Manufacturing.
  • Excellent PC, Presentation and Communication Skills
  • Project Management:
  • Knowledge and experience of effective project management strategies and tactics; ability to plan, organize, monitor, and control projects, ensuring efficient utilization of technical and administrative resources to achieve project objectives.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Describes the key objectives, phases and deliverables of a current project.
  • Creates detailed project plans including cost, schedule, critical path and resource requirements.
  • Obtains information from stakeholders during the planning stage of a project.
  • Produces project status reports.
  • Problem Solving:
  • Knowledge of approaches, tools, techniques for recognizing, anticipating, and resolving organizational, operational or process problems; ability to apply knowledge of problem solving appropriately to diverse situations.
  • A proactive approach to problem solving and continuous improvement.

  • Examines a specific problem and understands the perspective of each involved stakeholder.

  • Knowledge of best practices and standards for improving the effectiveness, efficiency, and safety of the design, production, and distribution of manufacturing products; ability to create and implement best practices and standards for various manufacturing processes and activities.
  • Cites examples of industry best practices and their relevance to the organization.
  • Identifies the expected benefits of implementing best practices.
  • Locates and interprets best practice documentation and information sources.
  • Names the manufacturing processes that can be streamlined from the implementation of best practices.
  • Monitors industry for best practices and new robotic and welding techniques
Top candidates will also have:
  • Robotic Welding System and Fabrication & Welding Knowledge
  • NEBOSH/IOSH Qualification or evidence of safety improvement activities
  • Knowledge of PUWER & UKCA regulations
