The Role



Role Requirements:



We are looking for a Toolmaker, to be responsible for producing, maintaining, and repairing precision tools, jigs, fixtures and moulds to support efficient manufacturing. The role requires the ability to identify and solve tooling and production related problems independently. Additionally, you will provide practical support to other departments during quieter periods, assisting with equipment troubleshooting, setup optimisation and ensuring smooth manufacturing operations.

Hours: Monday - Thursday 37 hours per week (9.25 hours per day)

Responsibilities



Manufacture, repair, and maintain tools, jigs, fixtures, and moulds in accordance with engineering drawings and specifications. Set up and operate manual machines, including mills, lathes, grinders, and drilling machines. Conduct precise measurement and inspection using micrometres, calipers, gauges, and other metrology equipment. Carry out preventive maintenance on tools, moulds, and fixtures to ensure reliability and accuracy. Learn to operate the wire EDM and other equipment as required. Assist other departments in quieter periods, helping with practical mechanical or production tasks. Be responsible for the standard/quality of your output and be accepting of new opportunities to expand your skills and personal development through internal/external training programs. Actively ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times, keeping a clean and safe working environment.

Personal Skills / Experience



Apprenticeship, Professional Qualification in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent experience. 5-6 years' experience in toolmaking, machining, or a similar technical role. Competence in manual machining, tool repair, and precision measurement. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, sketches, and GD&T specifications. Proven ability to solve tooling and production problems independently. Comfortable working both in a toolroom and supporting other departments on the production floor. Will be capable of working closely with the design team and interpreting designs for implementation into production. Must be able to demonstrate successful manufacturing experience and implementation abilities. Will have an eye for detail and be able to deliver complete work packages in a timely manner. Be self-driven, motivated and able to make informed decisions. Seeking to constantly gain product knowledge and able to improve existing products and processes. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. The ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures. The ability to work under pressure.
