The Tooling Engineer is responsible to design and develop composite jigs and assembly
fixtures to support prototyping activities within the design engineering and operations departments.
Main responsibilities:Daily liaison with production departments
Maintain, refurbish and produce hand tooling, jigs and fixtures
Enable the production and assembly of welded components and the final assembly of seating products
Reacting rapidly to fixture and tooling issues to troubleshoot, overcome and implement solutions
Liaise with production and design engineering to support the introduction of new products and processes
Support the organisation with continuous improvements suggestions and developments of technical apprentices
Adhere and improve H&S procedures and practices
Skill requirementsTime served apprentice in engineering machining discipline or a suitable level of competence and experience within a relevant engineering discipline
Experience of measuring and replicating parts from existing components and fixtures
Ability to read engineering drawings to enable the production of accurate components and fixtures
Experience in the set up and operation of manual lathe and milling machines
Fabrication and welding experience would be an advantage
Basic competency level within Microsoft Office programs
Good verbal communication skills to work as part of a team to resolve issues and explain technical solutions
Good understanding of manufacturing processes and design for manufacturing and assembly would be beneficial.
Ability to apply a formal problem solving structure to issue investigation and resolution would be beneficial.
Working Hours - Monday - Thursday (6.00am - 4.00pm)
Location - Round Spinney, Northampton (Office based)
Pension - 4% employer contribution
Annual Leave - 20 plus bank holidays
