KEY ROLE REQUIREMENTS:



Responsible for the operational management of the Tool Room within the business, including the development of new Mould tools and the performance and maintenance of Mould tools in production. Contribute to the creation and implementation of best practice tool room vision, strategy, policies, processes, and procedures to aid and improve operational performance. Identify business improvement opportunities within the organisation. Contribute to new business initiatives and projects and review and communicate the impact on Tool Room activities. As the Manager of the Toolroom department it will be critical that the successful candidate has excellent management and interpersonal skills, is prepared to step in and support the team as and when required. Building a team with the right skill sets will be a crucial part of this role.

RESPONSIBILITY / KEY MEASURES:



Manage, train, develop and mentor all toolroom employees, and ensure they maintain tooling in accordance with all drawings and comply with relevant Health and Safety procedures. This will include ensuring this facility complies with all Health & Safety, Human Resource, Quality and Environmental policies and procedures, and appropriate regulations and standards are being adhered to. Set the departments objectives / KPI's and review and assess ongoing performance. Input and hold responsibility for Tool Room budgets Prepare the annual Tool Room budget and forecasts and all Capital Expenditure proposals as well as ensuring compliance with legal standards. Manage the budget from identification to completion of projects Responsible for achieving budget and forecast Leading project meetings with teams of Design & Tooling Engineers providing specialist technical advice and support on all aspects of Tool Design, manufacture and costing Supports Production and Engineering to manage and guarantee on time availability of tools to ensure continuous production and increase of OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) Building the department's capacity and capability and ensure all worth through the tool room is managed efficiently and cost effectively to ensure all target dates for tooling at met. Support the technical design and development of any of the internal jigs/fixtures and equipment required. Prepare and managed the quotations and timing plans for each tooling project and ensure costs are monitored against each project. Assist in the tendering process for new business opportunities, playing an active role in securing and growing the overall business. Take the lead in developing best practice and Continuous Improvement projects to increase the performance, efficiency and effectiveness of the tool room Manage the manufacture and support the design of Mould tools for plastic injected moulded parts. Manage the in-house repair and tool maintenance team to maintain cost effectiveness,

DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:



Relevant manufacturing/engineering degree is preferred, or equivalent HND with an apprenticeship in Engineering / Tool Making Plastic injection moulding experience and knowledge is essential Extensive plant level experience with significant proven management experience (5 years +) Exceptional Technical tooling understanding Experience of managing Profit and Loss (P&L) responsibilities for manufacturing Outstanding communication skills; self-assured, articulate. The ability to work confidently and independently, as well as being a team player. Strong attention to detail with a vision to develop and improve departmental processes. * Ability to communicate and present to key stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
