Job Description

Town and Parish Councils Liaison Officer

--------------------------------------------

Job description

The Communities Team is recruiting a Town and Parish Councils Liaison officer. This role requires someone who is keen to support the smooth running of the Council's services, to improve information flow, and to develop and maintain strong communication links between SCDC and our Town and Parish Councils. The role will focus on effective relationship-building, and as a public-facing representative of the Council, the postholder will have excellent communication skills and a commitment to upholding the highest levels of integrity. They will have excellent organisational skills, project management and events coordination experience, and will co-ordinate and support joint initiatives without our Town and Parish Councils, drawing on experience of colleagues within the Council and external partners.

The post will co-ordinate the successful delivery of training and development sessions for Town and Parish Councils based on an assessment of their needs. There are a range of metrics associated with the role which will determine its success and these will need to be reported on regularly to officers and elected members - this will require the maintenance of accurate and up to date records of interactions, whether remote or face to face.

This is a busy role and so the postholder will need to be able to prioritise amongst a diverse range of tasks. They will be curious to understand the requirements of Town and Parish Councils, and balance these against the role and obligations of the District Council. The postholder will be required to work with elected members on all aspects of the role.

Please contact Kathryn Hawkes (Communities Manager), for more information or an informal chat about the role, via Kathryn.Hawkes@scambs.gov.uk.
