Job Description

We are looking for a proactive, organised, and tech-savvy Broadcast Assistant to join the Town TV team. This role supports the smooth delivery of all home and away Town TV live broadcasts. You will assist in preparing show running orders, setting up and testing broadcast equipment, supporting supporters with their Digital Accounts, and ensuring the highest production standards are maintained throughout each broadcast.

Main Purpose of Job:



The main purpose of the Town TV Broadcast Assistant role is to support the delivery of high-quality live broadcasts for Ipswich Town Football Club. Working closely with the production team, you will play a key part in preparing and running each Town TV show, ensuring all technical, editorial, and operational elements are in place for a seamless broadcast. From helping to plan running orders to setting up and testing equipment, the role is vital in maintaining professional standards and providing supporters with an excellent viewing experience.

In addition, the role provides hands-on support to supporters with their Digital Accounts, ensuring they can access Town TV smoothly and without issue. You will also contribute to the successful delivery of both home and away broadcasts by assisting with the technical setup, monitoring live shows, and troubleshooting any problems that arise. Ultimately, the Broadcast Assistant helps ensure every Town TV production runs efficiently, engaging fans and strengthening their connection with the Club.

Key Responsibilities:



1. Assist in preparing and updating detailed running orders for TownTV matchday broadcasts and other programming.

2. Support the setup, testing, and monitoring of cameras, microphones, streaming systems, and other broadcast equipment before and during live shows.

3. Provide technical assistance to supporters with their Digital Accounts, ensuring smooth access to TownTV services.

4. Work closely with the production team to maintain seamless broadcast operations, both at home matches and while travelling to away fixtures.

5. Monitor live broadcasts, helping to identify and resolve technical issues promptly.

6. Liaise with presenters, commentators, and technical crew to ensure all show elements run to schedule.

7. Assist with post-broadcast wrap-up, including equipment pack-down, basic fault reporting, and maintaining kit inventories.

8. Uphold Ipswich Town Football Club's brand values and deliver an excellent supporter experience.

Knowledge and Experience



Essential:



Understanding of live broadcast or streaming environments (TV, radio, online, or sports media). Basic knowledge of audio-visual equipment, including cameras, microphones, mixing desks, and streaming platforms. Experience in setting up, testing, and troubleshooting technical equipment. Familiarity with digital accounts, login systems, and providing first-line user support. Strong organisational skills with the ability to follow running orders and work to tight deadlines. Good communication skills, with experience in customer service or supporter-facing roles. Ability to work effectively as part of a team in high-pressure, live event settings. Flexible approach, with willingness to work evenings, weekends.

Desirable:



Previous experience in sports broadcasting, live streaming, or matchday media production. Knowledge of broadcast software such as vMix, OBS, or similar production tools. Familiarity with content management systems (CMS) and supporter account platforms. Understanding of social media platforms and how they integrate with live broadcasts. Experience working with professional AV equipment (cameras, lighting, vision mixers, encoders). Strong interest in football and awareness of Ipswich Town FC's supporter culture. Basic video editing or graphics production skills.

Confident in using social media tools to support live coverage and fan engagement. Strong IT literacy, including experience with CMS platforms and supporter account systems. Ability to operate cameras, lighting, or audio equipment at a professional level. Comfortable presenting or communicating on camera if required for behind-the-scenes content. Strong multitasking ability, managing several responsibilities during live broadcasts. Knowledge of broadcast compliance and best practices in sports media.

Education and Training



Essential:

Educated to A-Level (or equivalent) standard. Evidence of technical training in media, broadcast, or IT (can be formal or on-the-job). Basic training or demonstrable knowledge in the setup and safe use of AV/broadcast equipment. Familiarity with health & safety procedures when working with electrical/broadcast kit. Ongoing commitment to learning new broadcast technologies and digital tools.

Desirable:



Degree or diploma in Broadcast Media, Media Production, Sports Journalism, or a related field. Training or certification in live streaming platforms (e.g., vMix, OBS, Wirecast). Qualification in audio-visual technology, sound engineering, or technical theatre. Basic training in video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut, or equivalent). Safeguarding training, particularly within sports or youth settings. Health & Safety certification relevant to broadcast or events.

Other Requirements



Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and Bank Holidays in line with the football calendar. Ability to carry and set up broadcast/AV equipment (within reasonable manual handling limits). Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and data protection standards. Professional appearance and conduct when representing Ipswich Town Football Club. Right to work in the UK.
