Job Description

As a Track Technician, you will ensure the continuous operational integrity of track infrastructure and equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance. Your responsibilities include maintaining and safeguarding work systems, adhering to Health and Safety (H&S) regulations to ensure a safe workplace, and occasionally supervising onsite contractors once trained. This role is critical for guaranteeing the safety of both the system and staff, involving safety-critical duties. Due to the nature of this role, you must be prepared to work on a shift pattern and participate in an on-call rota.







Ensure the continuous operational integrity of track infrastructure and equipment through preventative and corrective maintenance. Maintain and safeguard work systems, adhering to H&S regulations and operational procedures to ensure a safe workplace. Perform planned maintenance of track infrastructure and its components in accordance with approved maintenance instructions and schedules to achieve maximum availability and reliability. Participate in the preparation of equipment for service, including inspection and testing to meet commercial and operational demands. Record and report equipment failures to the relevant departments. Identify concerns, report, and rectify issues as per departmental processes and procedures. Assist in departmental growth during current and upcoming development phases. Observe quality procedures and oversee the correct use of equipment. Supervise and monitor subcontractors when carrying out important maintenance works. Learn and utilise relevant administrative systems to complete documentation (e.g., MMS report, Shift report). Participate in the execution of various optimisation or handover tasks on track systems. Write and complete railway track failure reports. Perform any other duties relevant to the position as requested.

Qualifications and Experience:



HNC/HND/NVQ or equivalent in an electrical or mechanical discipline.

BTEC/C&G qualification or equivalent in a technical discipline, combined with proven, demonstrable work experience in a technical environment, may be considered.
Previous experience in a railway environment is advantageous. Fabrication qualifications or ultrasonic experience are applicable if held. Experience in electrothermic welding is desirable but not essential. Ability to communicate in French or another European language is desirable but not essential. Demonstrates an understanding of the importance of H&S regulations and work procedures, always promoting good practices. Follows policies and procedures, complies fully with legal obligations and safety requirements, and reports all incidents and accidents in line with procedure. Strong communication skills and adept at building excellent relationships with others, contributing to a positive team atmosphere. Ability to work autonomously, promoting quality and high standards at all times. Logical in approach, takes initiative, acts with confidence, and solves problems in real time. Enthusiasm to learn and develop the skills required to fulfill the role in its entirety. Reliable, punctual, and flexible to meet operational demands and business needs. Presentable and confident to project a positive image of self and Eurotunnel. Meets the medical standard for the role. A valid driving licence and passport are essential. Willing to work a roster covering a 24-hour period, 7 days a week, and participate in an on-call roster.
