We are looking for

Root Crop Specialist Operator.



At our farming operation based in Norfolk we are looking for an excellent team player who can exceed in their duties to help us retain our position as a leading fresh produce supplier in the UK. We're dedicated to using the very best of sustainable farming techniques in our own farming and collaborating with other expert farmers. We grow the finest quality root vegetables which we pack ourselves to supply to our customers.

You will join us on a full-time permanent contract.

The shift pattern will be an average of 55 hours per week, flexible hours dependent on time of year and weather.

The Job Role



Reporting directly to the Farm Manager, you will play a key role in ensuring that we meet quality standards and maximise productivity.

Key Responsibilities Include:



Work in the established farm team performing the daily operations, ensuring all relevant processes and procedures are always followed. To undertake all aspects, as required, of root production and manage your operational targets set throughout the season. The key objective being to maximise productivity and profitability of crop. Fully accountable for making sure your key areas of responsibility are met. Taking direction and then ownership for all activities such as bed prep, drilling, weeding (mechanical & laser), irrigation, all aspects of harvesting and carried out in an effective and efficient manner. Working when required on other areas of farming as directed by Farm Management. Able to maintain and upkeep all machinery to the highest possible standard as agreed with your manager. You are expected to be able to fix all machines whilst working on the job having full access to workshop tools provided. In periods of downtime you are expected to work in the workshop maintaining all equipment as instructed by your line manager. Ensure a high level of record keeping of all operations, using farm software and company tablet provided. Ensuring that all pre-use checks are completed daily and any issues are reported to farms manager.

What we are looking for



Experience of working in a farm setting and operational experience with the latest technologies, such as GPS guidance. Practical experience of driving a tractor. Experience of working in a busy team. Strong communication skills both verbally and written. A real team player with a positive attitude to implement change. An ability to show initiative and to work collaboratively with others across the business. Good timekeeping and a willingness to do what is necessary to get the job done.
