The Opportunity:
Transition from operational import/export work into strategic international trade consultancy. This role offers the opportunity to develop consultancy skills whilst building on your practical trade experience. You'll work with diverse clients on complex regulatory and logistics challenges, advising on everything from customs procedures to market entry strategies and supply chain optimisation.
You'll gain direct client exposure from early on, working across multiple sectors and industries with variety in your day-to-day work. The role combines client-facing advisory work with essential research, administrative support, and back-office tasks that underpin our consultancy delivery. You'll be very much part of a small team where everyone contributes to day-to-day operations.
What You'll Do:
Support international trade compliance reviews and operational assessments for UK businesses
Advise clients on import/export procedures, documentation requirements, and regulatory compliance
Conduct detailed research on regulations, tariff codes, and trade requirements
Assist with market entry planning and international logistics strategy
Respond to client queries on customs procedures, tariff classification, and valuation
Contribute to export licensing assessments and trade compliance projects
Prepare reports, proposals, and client documentation
Handle administrative tasks and support team operations
Maintain client files and compliance records
Research regulatory changes affecting international trade
Build direct client relationships under supervision
Occasional travel with colleagues to client sites
What You'll Learn:

Requirements:
Essential:
3 years practical experience as import/export coordinator at a manufacturing/trading company OR operations role at freight forwarder/customs broker
Working knowledge of UK import/export procedures and customs systems
Understanding of international trade documentation, Incoterms, or logistics processes
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Analytical approach to problem-solving
Comfortable with research and administrative responsibilities
Full UK driving licence
Right to work in UK (no sponsorship available)
Desirable:
Exposure to export controls, trade compliance, or international regulations
Experience with freight operations, logistics coordination, or supply chain management
Client-facing or stakeholder management experience
Understanding of trade agreements or preferential origin
