Job Summary

The Traffic Management CAD Technician is responsible for producing accurate and compliant traffic management drawings and plans using CAD software. The role supports traffic management, highways, and construction teams by translating design requirements, site information, and regulations into clear technical drawings for temporary traffic management (TTM) schemes.

Key Responsibilities

Produce detailed traffic management drawings and layouts using CAD software (e.g. AutoCAD) Design temporary traffic management plans for highways, roadworks, events, and construction sites Ensure designs comply with relevant standards and guidance (e.g. Chapter 8, TSRGD, DMRB, local authority requirements) Interpret site surveys, traffic data, and design briefs to create accurate drawings Amend and update drawings based on design reviews, site changes, or client feedback Liaise with traffic engineers, planners, site managers, and local authorities as required Maintain drawing registers, revision control, and document management systems Assist with risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) where required Support permit applications and submissions to local authorities Ensure deadlines are met while maintaining high drawing accuracy and quality
Skills & Experience

Essential:



Proficiency in CAD software (AutoCAD or equivalent) Experience producing traffic management or highway-related drawings Good understanding of temporary traffic management principles Strong attention to detail and accuracy Ability to interpret technical information and specifications Good communication and time-management skills

Desirable:



Knowledge of Chapter 8, TSRGD, and UK highway standards Experience working with local authority approvals and permits Previous experience in highways, civil engineering, or construction environments Familiarity with GIS, KeySIGN, or traffic management design software
Qualifications

Relevant CAD qualification or equivalent experience HNC/HND or equivalent in Civil Engineering, Transport Planning, or related field (desirable)
Working Conditions

Office-based with potential for hybrid working Occasional site visits may be required Full-time role (hours may vary depending on project demands)
Job Type: Full-time

Pay: 30,000.00-35,000.00 per year
