Job Title: Traffic Management Operative

Location: Lochgelly, Fife (Depot)

Salary: Competitive (dependent on experience) + overtime opportunities

Hours: 45-50 hours per week (flexible based on project needs)

Overall aim of the job:



As a Traffic Management Operative, you'll be at the forefront of maintaining safe and effective road networks across Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow and the Central Belt. Your work will support major infrastructure projects, roadworks, and events, ensuring minimal disruption for road users while prioritising safety.

Main Activities



Setup and Maintenance

: Install, maintain, and remove traffic management equipment in accordance with safety regulations.

Traffic Control

: Direct and manage vehicle and pedestrian flow at roadwork sites to ensure safety and efficiency.

Site Safety

: Conduct risk assessments and ensure compliance with health and safety standards, completing all necessary documentation accurately and promptly.

Equipment Handling

: Operate and maintain traffic management vehicles and tools, ensuring they are in good working condition.

Collaboration

: Work closely with site supervisors, contractors, and other operatives to coordinate traffic management.

Emergency Response

: Respond to urgent situations to implement traffic control measures quickly.

We're looking for a dedicated and reliable individual who brings enthusiasm and professionalism to the role. The ideal candidate will meet the following expectations:

Physical Fitness

: Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting and working outdoors in all weather conditions.

Qualifications

: Valid UK driving licence (essential). Ideally, Lantra NHSS 12D or equivalent traffic management qualification is desirable but not essential, as training will be provided.

Team Player

: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively within a team and with external contractors.

Safety-Conscious

: A commitment to adhering to strict health and safety protocols to protect yourself, colleagues, and the public.

Flexibility

: Willingness to work 45-50 hours per week, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, with travel across Fife, Edinburgh, Glasgow, and the Central Belt.

Reliability

: Punctual, dependable, and able to work under pressure to meet project deadlines.

Problem-Solving

: Ability to think on your feet and adapt to changing site conditions or unexpected challenges.

Eligibility to work in UK Full UK Driving License (no more than 6 points)

Desirable but not essential:



Valid traffic management qualifications (e.g., Lantra card 12D M1/M2/M5)
