As a Trainee Accountant, you will learn to navigate the complexities of HMRC whilst bolstering your skills by learning the initial concepts of double-entry bookkeeping to the more complex tax matters surrounding individuals and other legal entities such as VAT, personal and business taxation as well as payroll and the required administration to support the decisions we make as Accountants.
Working in our office in Oulton and with the support of Carlisle College, you will complete an apprenticeship in accounting to achieve a worldwide recognised qualification. We will support you through your level 2, 3 and onto the completion of level 4 AAT (Association of Accounting Technicians) where you will be able to put your newly learned skills into practice.
We are a small accountancy firm with 15 members of staff and over 1000 clients throughout the UK, and we are growing rapidly so you will become an integral part of the team from the outset. Our friendly approach and family feel make us a more intimate company to work for. You are valued and recognised for the skills you bring to the company and rewarded for the extra efforts you make.
To begin with, we provide you with 33 days of annual leave and additional days holiday for each complete year of service, a bonus based on company performance, client sign-up bonuses and from time to time we plan days away for the team to relax and for you to meet your colleagues from our other offices.
Our working week is generally Monday to Friday 8am to 4pm working 37.5 hours a week.
The ideal candidate will have 5 GCSE's with at least one being in Maths (Grade C equivalent and above) and a keen eye for detail with a desire to learn and excellent customer service skills. An ability to engage a stranger in conversation is desirable as well as being able to forge strong client relationships but more importantly, you must be honest, hold integrity and not have any criminal convictions which could render your application with AAT unattainable.
