Description

About the Team

At Vintage Cash Cow, our Appraisals Team is at the heart of our operations, ensuring every item we receive is accurately valued. As the first point of contact with our customers' goods, we carefully assess each box to provide fair and transparent offers. We take pride in being the engine room of the business, supplying stock that fuels all other departments. Our team of around 30 people works collaboratively, with opportunities to progress from Trainee to Senior Appraiser levels.

About the Role

As a Trainee Appraiser, you will be responsible for evaluating customers' items daily, working alongside specialists and your team leader to make well-informed decisions. You will develop expertise across a diverse range of vintage and antique items while striving to meet and exceed key performance targets. This is a role where continuous learning is essential--each day brings new and unique items, making every appraisal a valuable learning opportunity.

Getting Started...

Learn the fundamentals of appraising vintage and antique items, including gold, silver, watches, jewellery, medals, toys, cameras, and more. Engage in hands-on training with specialists and team leaders to build a strong foundation in valuation techniques. Begin appraising customer boxes with close guidance and support.

Establishing Your Impact...

Accurately appraise 23-25 boxes per day, maintaining a quality control rate of at least 95%. Develop a deeper understanding of product categories and valuation strategies. Collaborate with your team leader and colleagues to refine your skills and improve appraisal accuracy. Attend regular one-to-one meetings to track progress and discuss key performance indicators (KPIs).

Driving Excellence...

Increase daily appraisals to 25-30 boxes, ensuring consistency and precision. Take on greater responsibility for quality control, ensuring minimal errors through audits and feedback. Continue expanding your expertise across a broad range of vintage and antique items. Support the wider team by sharing insights and contributing to process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

Assess and accurately value a variety of vintage and antique items. Work closely with specialists to refine appraisal techniques and knowledge. Maintain high levels of accuracy to meet quality control standards. Ensure efficient processing of customer boxes in line with department KPIs. Support the continuous improvement of appraisal processes and customer satisfaction. Strong attention to detail and a passion for learning about vintage and antique items. Ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team. A methodical and analytical approach to decision-making. Comfortable working in a fast-paced, target-driven environment. Previous experience in valuation, appraisals, or a related field is beneficial but not required--full training is provided.

Working Pattern

Shift One, this is our earlier shift in the day. The working hours are 7am to 3pm. Working days are Monday to Friday. Contracted working hours 40 per week.
