Mind and Body Kent are looking to recruit Trainee Children Wellbeing Practitioners (CWP) to continue to improve children and young people's mental health services in Kent. The training forms part of the service transformation initiative delivered by NHS England as part of the Children and Young People's Psychological Trainings (CYP-PT) programme.


This is a fixed-term training position and the post holders will undertake training at Kings College London alongside working in service. You will be taught to deliver evidence based guided self-help interventions for children and young people experiencing mild to moderate mental health difficulties. You will also use your newly developed skills to support children and young people who are referred into the service. Trainees will receive supervision to support their professional development.


Please note: The position will be predominantly home-based with occasional travel to our Faversham service. Successful candidates will be expected to travel to London, on a weekly basis, for teaching during the training year.

The contract end date is 31st December 2026. Applicants will need to be ready to start work in early/mid-January 2026 and posts cannot be offered to candidates unless they can guarantee this start date. Provisional Interview dates: 3rd and 4th November Training commences: 19th January 2026

Essential Skills



A minimum of a second class Bachelor's degree from a UK university or an overseas qualification of an equivalent standard in a relevant subject (e.g. psychology) Evidence of working with children and young people with mental health difficulties Demonstrable experience of carrying out risk assessments within scope of practice Demonstrable understanding for the need to use evidence based psychological therapies and how it relates to this role Knowledge of child protection issues and other relevant legislation High standards in written and verbal communication Ability to work under pressure and foster good working relationships Ability to use clinical supervision and personal development positively and effectively Ability to carry out the academic requirements of the role


As these roles are funded by Health Education England, candidates would not be eligible for funding if they have already received prior NHS-funding within the last 2 years. Please note this includes if you have started but not finished a course.
