The principal role of this position is to be trained as a Lower GI Clinical Endoscopist. The successful candidates will be motivated, demonstrate drive, vision and enthusiasm to make a major contribution to the unit activity as an advanced practitioner. They will be required to have excellent communication skills, a flexible attitude and will need to demonstrate a commitment to their own personal development.
The successful candidate will take part in the next cohort of the Health Education England (HEE) Clinical Endoscopist Training Program based at the Regional Endoscopy Training Centre. They will be supported by JAG accredited Endoscopy Trainers utilizing regular protected training lists.
The Royal Bournemouth unit consists of 6 procedure rooms (including ERCP which is performed in the X-ray department), the Poole Unit has a further 3 procedure rooms with more expansion planned and Wimborne is operating as a satellite unit. We provide a full range of diagnostic and therapeutic procedures including: Upper and Lower GI Endoscopy, Endoscopic Ultra sound (EUS), Bronchoscopy and Endoscopic Retrograde Cholangiopancreatography (ERCP). The Clinical Endoscopist team is also involved with providing JAG basic skills courses .

Endoscopist. Training will initially be started In-house before being completed as part of the South West Endoscopy Training Academy (SWETA) Clinical Endoscopist Training Program.
This is an accelerated programme aiming to achieve an independent level of competency in line with the JAG (Joint Advisory Group in Endoscopy) standards.
The post holder will exercise professional autonomy and make clinical
judgements using specialist knowledge and skills in order to provide high
standard holistic patient care, practising within local and national codes,
recommendations, clinical protocols and guidelines.
The successful candidate will be guaranteed a minimum of 2 endoscopy training sessions per week until full sign off. Once fully accredited they will be expected to deliver an anticipated 4+ endoscopy sessions per week
