Position Overview:
We are seeking motivated and detail-oriented individuals to join our team as Trainee Crate Makers. This entry-level position offers an excellent opportunity to learn the skills necessary for crate manufacturing, allowing the successful candidates to develop meaningful careers in the crating industry. Trainee Crate Makers will work closely with experienced operatives to cut, fabricate, assemble, and pack crates according to customer specifications. Truly seeing a job from start to finish.
Activities:
Crate Fabrication Techniques:
Under the guidance of experienced crate makers, learn to use tools and equipment to fabricate wooden crates of various sizes and configurations.
Assembling Crates:
Assisting in assembling crates by cutting, shaping, and fitting wooden components together according to blueprints or instructions.
Inspecting Materials:
Inspecting wood and other materials for quality and suitability, ensuring that only high-quality, sustainable and traceable materials are used in crate production.
Packing Crates:
Packing crates with stiffeners, braces, foam, padding, or other materials to protect the contents during transportation, following specific packing instructions provided by clients.
Accuracy Assurance:
Ensuring materials are measured, cut and installed accurately to ensure that crates meet precise specifications and dimensions.
Maintaining a Clean and Safe Workplace:
Keeping work areas clean and organized, including ensuring the floors and walk ways are kept clear, disposing of waste materials, and maintaining tools and equipment.
Following Safety Procedures:
Adhering to safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment for the trainee and his colleagues.
Assisting with Other Tasks:
Assisting with additional tasks as required, including inventory management, shipping and receiving of goods, and general warehouse duties.
Qualifications:
Secondary School Qualifications:
Nat 4 or Nat 5 qualification would be preferred but not necessarily required.
Mechanical Aptitude:
Interest in working with tools and machinery, with a willingness to learn new skills.
Attention to Detail:
Strong attention to detail and precision in measuring and cutting materials.
Physical Stamina:
Ability to perform physically demanding tasks, including lifting heavy materials and standing for extended periods.
Team Player:
Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve common goals and to learn the necessary skills.
Reliability:
Dependable and punctual, with a strong work ethic and commitment to meeting deadlines.
Safety Consciousness:
Awareness of safety procedures and a commitment to following safety guidelines at all times.
Training:
On-the-job training will be provided to teach the necessary skills and techniques for crate fabrication and assembly.
