Overview


We are seeking to recruit a Trainee Deputy Manager to support the Practice Manager and GP Partners in the efficient day-to-day management of the surgery, ensuring high-quality patient care, operational efficiency, and compliance with NHS and HIW standards. This is a developmental role, ideal for someone with management and financial experience who wishes to progress into a senior management position within primary care.

Duties



Assist in the daily running of the GP surgery, ensuring smooth delivery of services to patients. Assist the Practice Manager in overseeing daily administrative and operational activities. Support with staff rotas, annual leave, and sickness management. Support in recruitment, induction, team development and supervision of administrative and clinical support staff. Handle patient enquiries, complaints, and feedback professionally. Deputise for the Practice Manager when required. Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe environment for both patients and staff. Coordinate and oversee stock control and ordering of medical and non-medical supplies to ensure efficient inventory management. Assist with bookkeeping and financial record-keeping, including invoices, petty cash, and payroll preparation support. Help monitor budgets, expenditure, and financial performance of the practice. Reconcile accounts, liaise with accountants, and ensure compliance with financial procedures. Support with maintaining policies, procedures, and compliance with NHS and HIW regulations. Assist with audits, inspections, and reporting requirements. Ensure information governance and confidentiality standards are upheld at all times.

Skills



Essential Criteria:



Previous experience in management, supervision, or team leadership. Experience with financial administration, bookkeeping, or budget monitoring. Strong organisational and communication skills. Competence in Microsoft Office and general IT systems. Experience in stock management and ordering processes. Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to deadlines. Professional, discreet, and empathetic approach to patients and colleagues.

Desirable Criteria:



Experience working within a healthcare or GP practice environment. Knowledge of NHS systems, policies, and EMIS clinical software. Understanding of HIW and information governance requirements.

Training and Development:



Structured mentoring from the Practice Manager. On-the-job training in HR, finance, and NHS practice management. Access to NHS and external training courses relevant to practice management

Working Hours:



Minimum of 20 hours per week

Job Types: Part-time, Permanent

Pay: Up to 29,250.00 per year

Expected hours: 20 - 30 per week
