This process operator role is responsible for controlling and monitoring distillery processes and related activities through malt receipting, storage, milling, mashing, fermentation and distillation.
The successful candidate will support a range of activities onsite to ensure targets are met in relation to Environmental Health & Safety, Quality and Efficiency whilst working on shift rotation. Knowledge of the entire range of spirit production processes is preferable due to responsibility of safe operations of all distillery plant, equipment and controls as per work instructions.
As our distillery also houses a 5-star visitor attraction, friendly interaction with distillery tours as required is an important part of the role.
The successful candidate is expected to have previous experience working in a distillery and be required to, but not limited to:
Work autonomously, but also requires good communication skills for working within a small team
Have flexibility to adapt to different shift working practices and patterns at short notice
Preferably have Distilling / Brewing experience desirable at IBD Fundamental/General Certificate in Distilling or equivalent level
Fully understand the entire range of spirit production processes including malt receipting, storage, milling, mashing, fermentation, wash and spirit distillation and by products
Read and understand risk assessments, work instructions, procedures, company policies etc and act in accordance with them
Be able to display attention to detail with the ability to follow written work instructions and use knowledge to problem solve when required
Have a full driving licence
Be confident and comfortable to interact with members of the public during tours
Have good numeracy and literacy skills whilst maintaining accurate process and inventory records
Have genuine interest in learning the whisky making process and willing to promote the brand
The role is part of a small team where every member gets involved in a variety of activities as they arise, therefore the applicant must have a flexible attitude towards the scope of work.
