About the Role



We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented

Trainee Estimator

to join our construction team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to start or develop a career in construction estimating. You will assist in preparing accurate cost estimates and tender submissions for a range of construction projects, learning the key processes and systems involved in pricing and procurement.

Key Responsibilities



Assist in preparing cost estimates, quotations, and tender submissions for construction projects. Support senior estimators in analysing drawings, specifications, and other documents to prepare accurate quantity take-offs. Obtain and evaluate supplier and subcontractor quotations. Help maintain estimating databases, cost records, and project documentation. Attend site visits (as required) to gather information for estimates. Participate in project handover meetings to ensure smooth transition from pre-construction to delivery. Learn company estimating procedures, software, and construction methods. Contribute to continuous improvement in estimating accuracy and efficiency.

Skills & Qualifications



Essential:



Interest in construction, quantity surveying, or estimating. Strong numerical and analytical skills. Good attention to detail and accuracy. Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications. Excellent communication and teamwork skills. Willingness to learn and develop within the business.

Desirable:



ONC/HNC, BTEC, or degree in Construction Management, Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or a related field (or working towards). Some work experience (placement or otherwise) in a construction or estimating environment. Familiarity with estimating software such as Causeway, ConQuest, or similar.
