To work as part of a commercial support team assisting with the preparation of quotations and the coordination of projects for public sector and highways term maintenance clients.
Key Duties & Responsibilities
Estimating & Workload Management
Assist in the preparation of quotations within agreed turnaround times (where possible within 48 hours), ensuring project costs are accurately built up and rates remain competitive while supporting target profit margins.
Maintain up-to-date records of live enquiries and workload status, ensuring tasks are prioritised appropriately and communications are monitored and progressed promptly.
Support senior team members by identifying and flagging any potential workload or capacity constraints.
Communicate effectively with customers and internal stakeholders to obtain accurate information required for the preparation of quotations.
Escalate any significant commercial, technical, or delivery risks identified during tendering to senior management for review and guidance.
Project Coordination
Assist in producing clear and accurate production or work instruction information, ensuring all required details are included to support operational and site teams, in line with established processes.
Coordinate with relevant internal teams to support effective scheduling, resourcing, and delivery of works.
Support the procurement of materials in a timely manner, ensuring value for money where possible.
Assist in identifying opportunities to enhance project profitability through variations, additional works, or changes in scope.
Take ownership of assigned project or account queries, supporting their resolution in a timely manner and escalating where required.

Person Specification
Knowledge, Skills & Experience
Essential:
Full UK driving licence.
Competent user of Microsoft Office applications.
Strong numerical and analytical skills.
Clear and effective verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to organise, prioritise, and manage multiple tasks in a commercially aware manner.
Preferred (Desirable - Not Essential for Trainee Role):
Some exposure to estimating, surveying, project coordination, or commercial support within a construction, maintenance, or engineering environment.
Basic understanding of cost build-ups, quotations, or pricing structures.
Experience working with spreadsheets or job / estimating software.
Certificate of Higher Education or similar qualification.
Previous experience in a surveying or related technical role.
