Fire Logistics Ltd, based in Kingston Park, Newcastle, was established in 1999 and is now the largest independent fire sprinkler, fire alarm and fire extinguisher company in the North East of England and covers the whole of the UK and Scotland.

Our business is the design, supply, installation and maintenance of fire safety systems including fire alarms, fire extinguishers, emergency lights and sprinkler systems. At Fire Logistics Ltd, we operate to the highest standards of fire safety - BSEN 12845:2019 and also FM Global / NFPA standards, plus BS5306 for Fire Extinguishers and BS5839 for alarms - and have our own independent safety consultant. We are looking to recruit a

Trainee Designer

in our Kingston Park, Newcastle office. Experience in CAD is desirable however not essential as all training will be provided. This role is ideal for someone looking to start a new career in fire sprinkler design as it involves on the job training whilst working toward a professional qualification after completion of various exams, the costs of which are covered by the company.

Reporting to the operational director; this role will involve drawing up fire sprinkler designs for various sites across the North East, carrying out site visits alongside the Lead Designer and liaising with customers and suppliers regarding design and installation.

Other key responsibilities will include -

Working and collaborating with the in-house design team and project leaders Producing drawings for installation Identifying issues within drawings and communicating these within the team Travelling to site alongside directors or the lead designer to attend team briefings Issuing drawings to clients and contractors within agreed timescales Carrying out as fitted drawings on site throughout the contract detailing any changes to pipe routes, supports etc. Liaising with clients and suppliers regarding drawing queries General office administration where required (ie filing, answering calls etc)
The successful candidate will have -

Proven proficiency in IT skills specifically Microsoft Office (Excel) The ability to work on own initiative, be resourceful & have excellent problem solving skills A demonstrated ability to take ownership for tasks and responsibilities & deliver results Be a strong communicator with excellent organisational and interpersonal skills Be detailed orientated and able to operate in a dynamic and fast paced organisation A strong team player approach Good time management skills - able to manage multiple deadlines The ability to juggle multiple tasks and prioritise
