Armstrong Priestley is one of the UK's leading fire protection specialists, and we are looking to expand our Northeast Design Team. We are seeking a motivated

Fire Sprinkler CAD Technician (Trainee)

to work closely with our experienced Project Design Engineer. This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to begin or develop a career in fire protection design.

About the Role



As a Fire Sprinkler CAD Technician (Trainee), you will support the design and coordination of fire sprinkler systems across a variety of projects. You'll work within our design office, learning industry standards, developing technical skills, and contributing to the delivery of high-quality, compliant fire protection solutions.

While prior CAD experience is beneficial, it is

not essential

--we are prepared to provide full training for the right candidate who demonstrates a strong work ethic and willingness to learn.

Key Responsibilities



Produce detailed fire sprinkler system drawings using

AutoCAD

, working closely with a Project Design Engineer. Support the interpretation and coordination of designs using a variety of software tools. Assist with

site surveys, site inspections, and material ordering

as part of ongoing project delivery. Communicate effectively with the wider internal project team to support live contracts. Learn and apply relevant

fire sprinkler standards and design rules

. Contribute to maintaining accurate, high-quality technical documentation.

Desired Skills & Attributes



(These are ideal qualities, but not all are required. Training will be provided.)

Experience with

AutoCAD

for 2D drafting. Experience using

Revit

or an interest in 3D modelling. Good IT literacy, including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Excel, Word). Strong

attention to detail

and accuracy in technical work. Ability to

visualise in 3D

and interpret technical drawings. Good

time management

and organisational skills. Positive attitude, willingness to learn, and ability to work well alongside others. Ability to work

full-time from the office

, collaborating directly with our design engineer.
