We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Trainee Funeral Director to join our family-run team (applications from experienced funeral directors are also welcome).
The ideal candidate will possess exceptional interpersonal skills, strong teamwork qualities, a keen eye for detail, high-level administration abilities and passion to help families throughout . This role involves guiding families through the funeral planning process, ensuring that all arrangements are handled with dignity and respect. The Funeral Director will also be responsible for managing the day-to-day operations of their individual funeral home, providing support to bereaved families, and upholding the highest standards of service.
Duties
Conduct consultations with families to discuss their needs and preferences for funeral services.
Prepare and file necessary internal and legal documents.
Manage their own diary, alongside the overall company's commitments.
Oversee the maintenance and cleanliness of the funeral home facilities and ensure compliance with health and safety regulations.
Provide emotional support to grieving families, offering guidance throughout the entire process.
Complete training provided both internally and through an external training provider (costs covered by the company).
Maintain accurate records physically and digitally using a variety of the company's software systems.
Participate in community and charity events to promote awareness of funeral services.
Take part in the company's out-of-hours rota, including weekday evenings, weekends and bank holidays to ensure a full 24/7/365 support is maintained to our community.
Qualifications
The candidate must hold a full driving licence with access to a car (must have held licence for a minimum of 2 years).
Previous experience in the funeral profession is highly desirable but not essential.
Knowledge of relevant laws and regulations governing funeral services is beneficial.
Strong communication skills with an empathetic approach to client interactions.
Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as required.
Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in all aspects of work.
Be of smart appearance.
Maintain exception time keeping skills.
Proficiency in using computer systems for record keeping and scheduling is an advantage.
