We are an expert legal practice with a high level reputation, specialising in civil costs law based in the Business District, Liverpool City Centre.

Costs law is a specialist area of the legal sphere. A Law Costs Draftsman is a legal specialist who deals with the legal costs process on behalf of mostly, law firms and private companies. The role of a Law Costs Draftsman centers on a procedure known as the detailed assessment proceedings (CPR Part 47), which is controlled by statute in England and Wales - The Civil Procedure Rules and Costs Practice Directions.

Civil Legal Costs litigation is an alternative legal career and can be extremely rewarding career given the specialist nature and skill set required.

The role being offered is

Trainee Law Costs Draftsman.

Full training and support will be provided.

This is an exciting opportunity for somebody who wants to develop their long- term career in civil costs law and join a friendly, professional and inclusive practice.

Due to our ongoing growth, we are looking to recruit a law graduate for the role of Trainee Law Costs Draftsman. You will undertake the designated training and development programme under the supervision of a Costs Lawyer with the objective of completing your initial traineeship within 12 - 18 months. Further ongoing training and support will be provided thereafter to continue to develop your career with us. You will have the opportunity to progress and work towards becoming an Associate with the practice. This role is for law graduates who want an opportunity to commit to pursuing an alternative career in law and develop their legal career with us, in a specialist area of law.

You must have:



- A law degree and completed your LPC / BPC. However, we will consider applicant's who have a law degree but have decided not to undertake the LPC or BPC.

- An excellent standard of written and verbal communication is required as you will be dealing with professional clients (solicitors), opponent solicitors, the Court, liability insurers, local authorities throughout the UK and their legal representatives.

- Attention to detail as you will be preparing legal documents, written submissions, Court documents and Court bundles.

- Ability to form good relationships with client's and colleagues and to work effectively as part of a team

- Good IT skills including the ability to utilise a case management system and using Microsoft Office.

- Ability to work on own initiative.

- Legal research skills using Lexis Nexus and other relevant resources.

- Reading and applying relevant case law.

- Well organised, able to plan and action diary tasks.

- Work efficiently and complete work / tasks within a designated timeframe.

- Well-presented and professional, punctual, confident, and self-motivated.

- Committed to development and training programmes.

- Flexible in your working approach with the ability to adapt and prioritise workloads.

Starting Salary



25,000.00 per year.



Start Date:



Approx. September / October 2025. You must be available for an in-person interview in Liverpool City Centre during August and September 2025.

26 days per year (January - December) plus Bank Holidays and Christmas close.
