We're on the lookout for ambitious individuals to join our Costs team as Trainee Legal Costs Draftsman & Negotiator. The successful candidate will draft and negotiate Legal Costs Schedules with the aim of ensuring maximum recovery of Legal Fees and Disbursements.

Responsibilities



As a

Trainee Legal Costs Draftsman & Negotiator

, you will be responsible preparing Schedules and Bills of Costs to include Litigation Schedules such as Costs Budgets, Estimates and Statements of Costs for Trial/ Applications. Negotiation of Legal Costs and Disbursements. Issuing Part 7 and Part 8 Proceedings. Making Applications. Liaising with Legal Teams.

About You



To succeed in this role, we're looking for someone who brings a blend of must-have skills and experiences, along with those extra special qualities that can really make a difference to our team and business. Full training will be provided. This is a mix of classroom-based learning and shadowing.

Essential Skills and Experience



Educated to at least A Level or equivalent, though a degree level is also welcomed. Intertest in pursuing a career in Legal Costs. Strong numeracy skills, analytical and problem-solving skills. Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Strong communication skills, both written and verbal. Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, deadline-driven environment. Proactive, self-motivated and able to work independently and collaboratively. Strong organisational and time management skills. Commitment to continuous personal and professional development.

Desirable Skills and Experience



Experience of running a case load and working to performance objectives. Experience within the Legal Costs field. Experience with Proclaim or other case management systems.

Working Hours



This role is Full Time based on 40 Hours per week. The Working Pattern for this role is Monday to Friday, and standard working hours are 8.00am to 5.00pm, with flexibility around start and finish times. The office is open between 7.00am and 7.00pm.We are also fully office based in Byker, Newcastle.
