Air Bearings Limited (ABL) are a world leading innovative manufacturer of air bearing solutions, used across the engineering spectrum; used across the engineering spectrum; whilst we are based in Dorset, we provide real world solutions globally.

We design and manufacture high precision air bearing spindles that can run up to speeds of 400,000 RPM.

Over 90% of our complete production process, from concept design through to the finished product, is completed in-house at our factories in Poole and Ferndown, Dorset.

Trainee Machine Operator (Bore Grind)

to join us on Night Shif

What ABL will offer you?



4 Day week (Monday to Thursday) - No weekends!

Hours: 42 per week (12 hours Mon-Weds, 6 hours Thurs)

What will the role involve?



To safely operate machines enabling the smooth manufacturing of components. You will work from standard operating procedures, drawings and process control documents, in accordance with production schedules and other agreed timescales. Ensure that you raise to your team-leader in a timely manner any tooling/resources/materials and/or process issues that may impact on your principal accountabilities. To ensure that all work carried out complies with health and safety requirements as laid down by the company and by external bodies. To take an active role in company initiatives such as continuous improvement, quality initiatives or new manufacturing systems and processes as they are introduced. Work together with colleagues in a considerate and respectful manner. The post holder will also be expected to carry out any other duties which may reasonably be within the competence of the post holder.

What will you require?



A basic level of machine operation is desirable but not essential as full training can be given Previous experience of working in a manufacturing environment is desirable but not essential as full training can be given An understanding of reading manufacturing drawings is desirable, but full training can be given Basic computer literacy for data entry Be a Self-motivated team player Excellent time management skills and able to prioritise your workload Ability to communicate effectively and clearly with employees at all levels IT literate Right to Work in the UK
