Overview



We are seeking an enthusiastic and motivated

Trainee Mechanic

to join our maintenance team at

Offley Autocare

. This successful candidate will assist with inspecting, repairing, and maintaining vehicles and equipment to support our daily operations. This role offers an excellent opportunity for individuals with a passion for mechanics and problem-solving to learn the trade and launch their career. The position is paid and suitable for applicants with a strong mechanical aptitude or those currently studying towards relevant qualifications.

Duties



Assist

with routine inspections of machinery and vehicles to identify potential issues under the guidance of senior staff.

Learn

to diagnose mechanical faults using specialised tools and techniques alongside experienced technicians.

Support the team

in repairing or replacing faulty components, ensuring work is done efficiently. Perform basic scheduled maintenance tasks (such as oil changes and fluid checks) in accordance with manufacturer guidelines and safety standards. Learn to keep detailed records of maintenance activities, repairs, and parts used. Assist in the installation or setup of new equipment and machinery as required. Adhere to health and safety regulations at all times, promoting a safe and clean working environment. Collaborate with other team members to optimise maintenance procedures and improve general workshop efficiency.

Experience & Requirements



No previous professional experience is required

, though candidate must be studying a relevant qualification in the auto industry. Basic understanding of mechanical systems, or a willingness to learn about hydraulics, pneumatics, and electrical components. Ability to learn how to read technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams. Familiarity with basic hand tools is preferred; training will be provided on diagnostic tools and repair equipment. Good problem-solving skills with a keen eye for detail and a "can-do" attitude. Relevant qualifications such as City & Guilds or NVQ Level 1/2 in Mechanical Engineering or Automotive Repair are advantageous Good organisational skills and the ability to follow instructions and work well as part of a team.

Pay: From 120.00 per week
