We're currently looking for a
Trainee Pharmacy Counter Assistant
to join our growing team. This is an ideal entry-level role for someone looking to start a career in healthcare and pharmacy, with full support and accredited training provided.
About the Role
As a Trainee Pharmacy Counter Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our pharmacy while learning on the job. You'll work under the supervision of our pharmacists and trained staff, assisting customers, handling prescriptions, and ensuring a safe, efficient pharmacy environment.
Key Responsibilities
Welcome and assist customers at the pharmacy counter
Provide information on over-the-counter (OTC) medicines under pharmacist supervision (training will be given)
Receive and process prescriptions accurately
Support in the preparation and labelling of medicines
Maintain and manage stock levels and ensure product displays are tidy
Promote healthy living and support pharmacy health campaigns
Handle patient queries and liaise with local GP practices as needed
Ensure confidentiality and professionalism in all duties
Contribute to the smooth running of the pharmacy and team
Training & Development
Full on-the-job training provided
Enrolment on an accredited
Medicines Counter Assistant (MCA)
course
Progression toward
NVQ Level 2 in Pharmacy Services
Mentoring and support from experienced pharmacy professionals
Continued professional development (CPD) opportunities
What We're Looking For
A genuine interest in pharmacy and healthcare
Friendly, professional attitude and excellent communication skills
Willingness to learn and complete formal training
Good literacy, numeracy, and basic IT skills (GCSEs preferred)
Strong attention to detail and reliability
Ability to work well as part of a team in a busy environment

Working Hours
Flexible shifts are available and will be discussed at the interview. Both part-time and full-time applicants are welcome. Alternate Saturdays (9-1)
