POSITION: Trainee Plant and Mechanical Technician --PERMANENT after 6 months probation
JOB ROLE NOTES:
We require a trainee Plant and Mechanical technician to work in our plant and hydraulic departments.
The ideal candidate will have a sound background in all things mechanical and have experience in one or more of the following:
Repair of petrol or electrical driven plant i.e generators, portable plant and water pumps etc.
Repair of small tools i.e. drills, site lights, 110v transformers and extension leads etc.
PAT testing
Hydraulic tools and equipment
Pneumatic equipment
HAVS testing
Loler testing
In house training will be provide on specialist equipment.
Ability to work in a small team and good customer communication skills, both written and verbal are essential.
You will be working to service client's equipment to a high standard based at our head office. There is a small amount of offsite work planned periodically through the year. We are looking for individuals who take pride in their work and can fulfil a task in its entirety and thrive on job satisfaction.
LOCATION Norwich--Broadland Business Park- NR7 0WF. Our workshops are new purpose built and air conditioned.
SALARY: TBC subject to age, experience and skills + individual and company bonus (up to 10% subject to performance)
RESPONSIBILITIES
Inspect, test repair, fault diagnose mechanical plant, electrical and hydraulic small hand tools.
Tag and label all equipment and update service records
Check, diagnose faults and repair / maintain equipment to a high standard
Maintain an up to date knowledge of products and full range of accessories
Completion of test certificates and associated paperwork and computer database record keeping
Keep workshop organised, clean and tidy and assist with general duties as required
Carry out any other reasonable tasks as deemed by manager
QUALIFICATIONS & KEY SKILLS
Experience in maintenance of plant and small tools would be beneficial but not essential
Grasp of the fundamentals of mechanical principals is essential
NVQ qualification is preferred but not essential - on job specialist training will be provided
Ability to self-motivate and work as part of a small team and work to deadlines
Computer literate (access to diagrams, ability to send emails and update electronic records)
PERFORMANCE INDICATORS
Work level management and internal conformance reporting
Customer satisfaction reports and bounce back monitoring
Workshop organisation & tidiness with a methodical approach to workflow
On-going management appraisal (and formal annual)
