Job Purpose:

This is a truly exciting opportunity for a tenacious and hard working natural leader to join the Company with a 24-month trainee position designed to develop the successful candidate into a fully qualified Project Manager within JDT Utilities Ltd.





The Trainee Project Manager will report to the Senior Manager Tier 1 and once fully qualified will be responsible for the coordination and end-to-end delivery of Tier 1 projects. This includes managing Tier 1 gas operations teams to achieve targets and goals, while ensuring compliance, safety, efficiency, and cost-effective utilization of JDT assets.

Key Responsibilities of a Project Manager (after training):




Upon successful completion of the training program, the Project Manager will be responsible for:

Directing and managing assigned gas operations teams to deliver allocated projects, fulfilling contractual obligations as an authorized JDT representative. Delivering allocated projects according to operational plans, meeting targets and KPIs on time, and ensuring cost-effective and within-budget resource utilization. Supporting the Senior Manager with administrative tasks for allocated gas operations teams, including starter packs, qualifications/competencies/training needs, and team holiday planning. Conducting staff inductions as required. Taking end-to-end ownership of allocated projects, from planning through delivery to closure. This includes tasks such as due diligence, site visits, resource planning, construction phase planning (push plan), traffic management development and coordination, Client and Local Authority liaison, and site clearances. Liaising with support functions and internal departments (e.g., Plans, Customer Care, Fitters, and Reinstatement) to meet team requirements, ensure situational awareness, and minimize friction and reactive work. Using PULSE as the primary tool for project planning, management, and reporting, and ensuring timely data input from self and gas operations teams to maintain full visibility of all Tier 1 activity, progress, and issues. Acting as a Competent Person (CP) for gas operations to support allocated teams (SCO5). Acting as an Authorizing Engineer (AE) for issuing Permits to Work to allocated teams, or serving as the Point of Contact (POC) for client permit-to-work systems (SCO1-2AE). Producing Routine Operations Plans (ROs) to support allocated projects. Maintaining engineering and safety standards within teams to ensure compliance and a safe working environment. This includes conducting audits, assurance checks, and delivering training/tool box talks, and ensuring proper CAT training and use. Ensuring personal and team compliance with company policies and procedures/SOPs. Capturing and reporting financial aspects of projects, including CIPs, invoices, day works, WRs, and VOs. Reporting Tier 1 Variation and Damage Reporting issues as identified (SOPs 801 & 803). Attending internal, client, and Local Authority planning and coordination meetings as required. Employment Details:



Permanent Employment Full Time Monday - Friday, 45 hours per week On-site, based in Sturminster Marshall, Dorset Salary: 32,000 per annum, with incremental increases to 48,000 per annum within 24 months of the program commencement date.
