Role Summary:




We are seeking an ambitious Trainee Quantity Surveyor to join our Commercial team. This role offers structured training and hands-on commercial experience in the Jersey construction sector, with a focus on measurement, procurement, and managing a large direct labour force. The successful candidate will support Quantity Surveyors in cost control, procurement and reporting while benefiting from on-the-job training and supported study.


What you will do:




Commercial Support


Assist in budgets, cost plans, tenders, and measurement of works. Support valuations for subcontractors and direct labour.

Procurement


Assist in material procurement, considering local supply and imports. Issue enquiries, analyse quotations and prepare orders.

Cost & Labour Management


Maintain labour timesheets and weekly payroll processing. Update labour and material monitors; assist with CVRs.

Subcontractor & Supplier Liaison


Liaise with local suppliers on orders and deliveries. Assist in subcontractor payments, variations and final accounts.

Reporting & Compliance


Maintain systems. Prepare weekly/monthly reports and ensure compliance with regulations.

Training & Development


Work towards professional qualifications. Gain exposure to pre-construction, live projects and final accounts.

What you will have




Experience ideally within a technical or construction-related environment. Strong organisational and multitasking skills with excellent attention to detail. Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook). Knowledge of AutoCAD would be advantageous but not necessary. Basic understanding of construction or property development processes is advantageous. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. A proactive attitude with a willingness to learn and develop within the role.
