Job Description

Job Mission

- To be involved in the quality assurance stages of software development and deployment, conduct manual tests to ensure that the software created by developers is fit for purpose, matches the client requirement and free from bugs or issues before it is deployed. Full training will be provided on our in-house testing principles and methodology to acquire a full understanding of the Software Testing Lifecycle (STLC).

Principal Job Objectives



To ensure the provision of accurate manual testing and verification of new system products, developments, Projects and Change Requests. Identifying the scope of testing from requirements and producing test artefacts like test conditions, test scripts and test evidence. Working with business users to agree the scope of testing to develop testing scripts and procedures to validate all testing processes. Performing user acceptance testing in systems and sending test evidence to business users for approval Raising, recording and tracking defects through to resolution and helping to identify their impacts on planned testing Provide accurate test estimates Participate in external client meetings and liaise with clients to define end user testing and testing output requirements. Conduct end to end test execution for Projects and adapt test plans where necessary during the Project Life Cycle. Ensure testing quality control and that all testing work is carried out as per the defined standards and procedures. Complete and keep up to date testing logs and issues trackers. Carry out small bug fixes and helpdesk jobs. Maintain documentation throughout the testing process and keep procedures up to date and relevant. To identify and participate in the provision of department training as and when required to become fully competent To attend identified courses to improve knowledge and awareness Work with all business stakeholders on software requirements. Work to understanding financial products Work in accordance with OPAL's ISO27001 and TCF policies and practices.

Essential knowledge and experience required at recruitment



A genuine interest in system change and user acceptance testing A curiosity about the IT systems and the business processes they support, and a desire to acquire and build knowledge in those areas An inquisitive mind and a high attention to detail as you will need to understand how things work to a level you can identify an expected result from an unexpected result in testing and raise defects accordingly A proactive approach to work, seeking answers to questions and filling knowledge gaps to help optimise your performance and contribution to the team Good workload management, well organised with the ability to work independently and flex between tasks when required Keen willingness to learn Methodical approach and analytical nature Good communication skills Minimum qualification of A' Level standard or equivalent with at least 5 GCSEs with minimum of grade C in Maths and English

Desired knowledge and experience required at recruitment



Experience in or knowledge of Financial Service products particularly protection, investment and wealth management Understanding of software development lifecycle processes and best practices. A bachelor's degree in something of Maths/Engineering/Science Nature.

Output Responsibility



Delivery of output suitable to the instructions provided. Ensure client deliverables are met on schedule and provide the projects team of testing updates as and when required. High Standards and accuracy Attention to detail Working knowledge of the products being tested

Pay: Up to 25,000.00 per year
