The principal function of this role is to carry out and support the installation, operation and maintenance of water management systems across our client project sites in the United Kingdom and Republic of Ireland.
This is a trainee-level position with an initial 12-month development period. During this time, each individual will be assigned to a Water Management Supervisor/s who will provide hands-on training in the techniques and water management systems employed by WJ. Upon successful completion of the training phase, individuals are expected to progress into the role of Water Management Operative. At this stage, CPCS training will be provided to enable plant operation and assume increased responsibility within project delivery.

Key areas of responsibility
Working under the guidance of assigned Water Management Supervisor(s) individuals will support the execution of various water management systems delivered by WJ, including the following focus areas:
Groundwater Control (Construction Dewatering, Depressurisation and Recharge activities):
Assist with the unloading, distribution and Installation of borehole, suction and vacuum pumps; pipework; electrical pump control cabins; discharge tanks; and electrical cabling for deepwell, wellpoint, and ejector dewatering systems
Install groundwater monitoring equipment across site locations.
Manually calibrate groundwater level readings using dips from monitoring wells/piezometers.
Carry out airlift and acidisation development of wells, boreholes and piezometers using air compressors, risers, hoses, injection pipe and acids where applicable.
Surface Water Management:
Support the unloading, distribution and Installation of surface, sump & overpumping systems including sump pits, associated pipework, electrical pump control cabins, discharge tanks, and electrical cabling for surface water activities.
Water Treatment:
Assist with setup of water treatment units (lamella clarifier tanks, stripper towers, filtration vessels, oil/water separator & mixer tanks and dosing systems).
Install relevant pumps, pipes, electrical pump control cabins, and electrical cabling for groundwater and surface water treatment activities.
Assist in the safe removal and disposal of 'sludge' from treatment vessels.
Pumping Tests:
Facilitate Installation of borehole pumps, pipework, electrical pumping test control cabins, discharge tanks, and electrical cabling for pumping test activities.
Set up groundwater monitoring equipment and perform manual dip calibration from wells/piezometers.
Conduct airlift development of relevant infrastructure, including wells, boreholes and piezometers using air compressors, risers and hoses.
Monitoring & Sampling:
Support monitoring & sampling teams in gathering water data and conducting site tests., including; collect and label water samples for off-site laboratory analysis and undertake field tests (falling and constant head tests, slug tests, ejector dewatering flow and return testing).
General:
Maintain clean and organised worksites at all times.
Prepare and maintain accurate and up-to-date comprehensive records of site activities.
Conduct routine inspections and basic maintenance activities of water management systems across sites.
Take personal responsibility for health and safety, and promote a safe working environment for colleagues.
Comply with WJ and client-specific Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) standards, championing a positive safety culture.
Coordinate effectively with WJ staff and client representatives, subcontractors, and suppliers to ensure successful project delivery.

Assist in the development of the Integrated Management System
Administer IMS procedures and ensure objectives and targets are met.
Liaise with the company auditors and ensure execution of corrective actions.
Collaborate across UK business units-including HR, SHE, design/technical, drilling, monitoring and environmental services to build strong cross-functional relationships and support financial objectives.
Qualifications & Experience
We are seeking a motivated and hardworking individual with a proactive "get stuck in" approach. The ideal candidate will possess the following attributes:
Minimum of 1 years' experience in the construction industry, or demonstrable equivalent experience - desirable but not essential
Valid CSCS card
Strong self-motivation and ability to work independently in demanding site conditions.
Flexible mindset with a proactive approach to problem-solving
Full UK Driving License
Working Conditions
This is a fully site-based role, with responsibilities carried out across various project locations throughout the UK. You will be expected to travel to and from these sites at the start and end of each working week (Monday to Friday). Site hours typically range between 07:30-08:00 and 18:00 daily.
To support your duties, you will be provided with:

Accommodations and a living-away allowance will be provided if daily travel from your home to the work site is deemed unreasonable.
Whilst not routine, you may be required to work overtime on evenings and weekends depending on client demands and the nature of site activities. Such requests can arise at short notice.
This role is physically demanding, involving:
Extended periods of standing outdoors
Repetitive tasks in variable weather conditions
Regular manual handling of heavy equipment .
Work takes place in active construction environments, including excavations, tunnels, adits, and shafts, and other high-risk zones. All activities must be carried out in strict compliance with Safety, Health & Environmental (SHE) regulations to ensure a safe and secure working environment for you and your colleagues.
