Earthmill is a specialist in the operation, maintenance, and management of small and medium scale wind turbines. We operate on a national basis through a network of engineering depots and from our head office which is based in Harrogate. Earthmill is part of the Arena Capital Group which manages a fleet of over 1,000 wind turbines and multi-megawatt solar assets.
The successful candidate will play a key part within the continued expansion of this business. We intend to be the best at what we do by providing exceptional levels of customer service and being a great place to work.
You will work alongside an Experienced Wind Turbine Technician and assist in performing service and maintenance duties on a fleet of wind turbines which are located nationwide, but you will primarily work throughout the Southwest.
Ideally (but not essential) you will come from either an electrical or mechanical background and have some experience in fault finding and troubleshooting.
Some of the tasks you will be involved in (but not limited to) will include; scheduled and unscheduled servicing, complete nacelle refurbishments, decommissioning and recommissioning of turbines, mechanical failures requiring - laser alignment of the generator and gearbox, blade swaps, hub swaps & gearbox swaps, and various electrical faults and component failures.
You will be required to attend the following training; working at heights and rescue course and first aid for remote working on wind turbines. A specific training program will be followed with our external training partner. We will also carry out on the job training with the service and maintenance of the turbines which will give you a solid understanding of the turbines you will work with. Further external training will be arranged according to the level of competence, existing training and qualifications you currently hold.
You will be professional, enthusiastic, results driven, tenacious and willing to go that extra mile to achieve exceptional customer service. You will also need to be resourceful, think on your feet and be able to make decisions using your initiative.
It is expected that you complete all documentation and paperwork which is required with the function of Trainee Wind Turbine Technician, these include (but not limited to); Timesheets, job sheets, service checklists, warranty checklists, field service reports and other task specific documents.
You will be required to follow all the procedures in place to ensure yours and your colleague's health and safety is paramount.
Some travel and working away will be required in this role.
Monday to Friday with the opportunity for overtime and weekend work.
A background in mechanical or electrical maintenance work.
Attitude goes a long way and a "can do" approach is required.
Training - Working at heights and rescue, first aid for wind turbine technicians.
Mentoring - On the job training and skills assessments.
