Aldine House Secure Children's Home is seeking a passionate and experienced Training and Development Officer to join our dedicated team. Located in the South West of Sheffield, Aldine House provides care and education for up to ten young people (mixed gender, aged 10-18) who display significant emotional and behavioural needs, are awaiting trial, or have been sentenced by the courts. We are one of only 13 Secure Children's Homes nationally, offering a critical first-line child protection and public protection service.
About the Role
As Training and Development Officer, you will:

  • Lead and support the development, delivery, and review of training and care needs for all children who live at Aldine House.
  • Monitor QCF and support learners to achieve this.
  • Support the Senior Managers to develop the training plan and continual progression of the home.
  • Advise and assist Assistant Managers in monitoring, managing, and reviewing training and care planning matters.
  • Ensure all training is delivered to a high standard and relevant to the children in home to promote continual growth.
  • Contribute to the effective development of staff, individually and collectively, to meet job requirements and the evolving needs of Sheffield City Council and Aldine House.
  • Support the induction of new starters and probation ensuring all staff are competent.
  • Play a key role in staff supervision, performance management, and ongoing professional development.

About You
  • You must be over 23 years old to work at Aldine House.
  • You have substantial experience in the residential childcare and training.
  • You are committed to safeguarding, inclusion, and the highest standards of care.
  • Understand the benefits of training and development to a highly skilled and qualified team.
  • You are a confident communicator, able to work collaboratively with colleagues, children, and external partners.
  • You are passionate about making a difference for some of the most vulnerable children in society.

Full-time employees work 37 hours for 52 weeks of the year and we offer a generous holiday entitlement. We are open to discussions about a wide range of flexible working opportunities which benefit you and the Council, including reduced hour contracts, working part time or as a job share.
If you are appointed to this role, your starting salary will be at the bottom of the grade. If you provide payslip evidence that your basic pay is greater than the bottom of the grade, we will consider starting you at the point of minimum advantage within the grade.
