Job Title:

Trainee Training Officer

Location:

Based from our Cardiff office with agile working agreement in place

Hours of Work:

37 per week (Monday - Friday), temporary position to May 2026.

Pay Scale:

32,076 (33,366 upon successful confirmation in post, normally after 6 months)

Main purpose:

To support the organisation to meet its strategic goals by delivering and assessing high quality training to support the Out of School Childcare Sector and the Playwork Workforce.

Main Duties:



Deliver dynamic Playwork qualifications, training and workshops Deliver play-based workshops and model a positive playwork approach Undertake workplace assessment of Playwork Learners Assist in the delivery of training projects within the organisation Create Training Resources Contribute to the creation of Newsletters and Weekly Bulletin Attend internal and external meetings Undertake a Level 3 Award in Delivering Dynamic Playwork Training Further own professional development to enhance the ability to carry out the role as and when appropriate

Key Skills & Experience



Essential



Knowledge / Experience in Playwork and current Playwork Practice A training qualification and proven experience in training adults Relevant Assessor award such as TAQA, D32 & D33, A1 or L3 Certificate in Assessing Vocational Achievement*
Knowledge and experience of delivering Playwork courses Ability and experience in delivering sessions online Good communication skills, verbally and in writing and the ability to work with a range of different people at different professional levels and fellow team members. Computer literacy. Full driving licence and access to a vehicle

Desirable



Ability to speak and write in both English and Welsh Educated to degree level, PGCE Cert ED (Level 5) Experience of using online portfolio systems Understanding & awareness of childcare and play issues, and the role of Out of School Childcare Clubs within the economic agenda.

While we are seeking applications from fully qualified Training Officers, we are also open to considering candidates for a Trainee Training Officer position.

Applicants for the trainee role must be able to demonstrate:

A sound knowledge and understanding of Playwork principles and practice. Current or recent experience working in a Playwork setting. A strong commitment to professional development, including undertaking relevant assessing and teaching qualifications (supported by the organisation).
The trainee position will be offered at a lower starting salary (30,285), progressing in line with qualification achievement and successful completion of training milestones.
